Frequently Asked Questions

Question: I can’t attend classes at a regular time because I’m flat out in my business; how can I pick up the skill I want?

Answer: Small Business@CIT has two flexible learning centres where you can register for core learning sessions of your choice. Sessions are available six days a week as well as in the evening, Monday to Thursday - you can attend as often or as little as you like. Alternatively, you can work through activities at home using our online resources.

Question: I don’t use or have access to a computer, can I still do the course?

Answer: Yes, we can help you to gain basic computing skills for the beginner user, as well as providing you with access to computers at either of our Flexible Learning Centres or Small Business Virtual Office.

Question: I’ve done a course a few year’s ago, how can I pick up and build on those skills?

Answer: Small Business@CIT recognizes skills through a Recognition process where previous learning through life or work experience or previous study is recognized so you do not have to repeat what you have already learned.

Question: When I pay my fees, what resources can I use or access?

Answer: As a ‘registered student’ you are entitled to:

  • all of the learning materials provided for the course you have registered in
  • Internet e-mail and worldwide web access
  • 100Mb internet
  • resources and facilities at each of the library and learning centres
  • access to online programs, study tools
  • counseling services

Question: I want to obtain some advice and information before starting my business, do you offer advice?

Answer: Small Business@CIT’s key role is to provide training solutions. We have collaborated with other small business peak bodies and put their links on our website http://smallbusiness.cit.act.edu.au to provide you with a range of small business services, including advisory services.
